Clinical Leadership

Tiffany Norton, LCSW

I have lived and worked in Ventura County for over 25 years. I have supported at risk youth and their families by providing behavioral coaching and therapy, conducted frontline investigations and case management services with Children and Family Services, completed mental health assessments to patients in hospital settings, completed investigations in Probate Court for appointment of conservatorship and guardianship, and for the last 11 years I worked for Family Court Services as a Child Custody Recommending Counselor.  In addition, I have provided individual and couples therapy in a private practice setting. I have a master’s degree in social work and have been licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2017. I have supervised numerous associate clinicians working towards licensure and graduate students. I believe in strengthening families through connection, assertive guidance, and ongoing support. Building and maintaining healthy relationships is challenging and often takes a tremendous amount of effort and vulnerability, BUT there is nothing more rewarding and life giving than seeing family members learn to love well and forgive quickly.

I have lived and worked in Ventura County for 47 years. I have been in private practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 24 years and for the last 20 years I have worked as a Family Law Mediator at the Ventura County Superior Court. For the last 7 years I have been the supervisor in charge of the mediation department; working with and training 13 Family Law Mediators.  In both my private practice and at the court I have worked with some of the most difficult Family Law cases in Ventura County. I have extensive experience in high conflict custody cases, dealing with the most complex issues, circumstances, and events. I have successfully helped many families stay out of court and learn to resolve their issues without the need for court appearances, often when the court could no longer help the families resolve their issues. I have worked with families to help children reunify with an estranged parent, taught parents to work cooperatively and not involve the children in their conflict. I also have formulated detailed plans to help families work together and parent their children, incorporating various mental health-based services to promote families healing and well-being.  I believe that families can heal, they can learn new strategies to work with each other to learn and implement new ways of communicating and to be happier and healthier.  Families that are court involved need specialized services and we founded Courtyard Therapy and Family Services to provide support to the families that need them most.  We understand the needs of the court and the needs of court involved families. Our goal is to support and educate families to better equip them with skills to limit court exposure in the future.
